Do you know what your child sees and hears everyday on MySpace?
If not, then you need to read this article and watch the Sites and Sounds of MySpace video.

MySpace is an online community that allows your child to set up their own "space." Kids can upload pictures, videos and music, setup quizzes and surveys for their friends, post intimate details of their lives, converse with their friends through message boards, blogs, and profiles.

In addition, MySpace offers a video and music upload area for any member to share their videos and music. A classified section allows members to search for or post requests for relationships, jobs, etc. You child can join groups and forums dedicated to a subject area such as: Automotive, Pets and Animals, Gay, Lesbian, and Bi, Religion and Beliefs, etc. Kids can review upcoming films, check out upcoming events, and invite friends to their "space."

It is a virtual community where communication is ongoing between friends, strangers and persons with similar interests. It is this communication that keeps kids going back to check their "space."

One student said that he spent 6 hours a day on MySpace and that it was like "electronic cocaine."

When you think of MySpace, think of it as a glass city where you can view intimate, illegal, and embarrassing activities, images, and sounds. This community doesn't believe in locking their doors! Here everyone is welcome!
