Relationships: Worry About Disappointing Others?

Author: Nick Arrizza, M.D.

Do you ever worry that wanting to do something that feels right to you will disappoint someone else? Even worse does this worry then block you from doing what you really wanted and cause you to capitulate only to protect the other and your integrity as a caring and compassionate person?

If this is the case and you feel that this worry is cramping your life then I ask you to follow the discussion below which will show you a way to freedom. A freedom that will not only enhance your self confidence, self esteem, your integrity but also your ability to be fully in charge of your self and your life.

Here we go.

What is the usefulness of this type of worry?

Well it is supposed to:

1. Make you consider your choices carefully, so that,

2. You choose that which will protect others from being hurt or disappointed, so that,

3. Others will be kept safe, feeling secure, happy and content, so that,

4. They will be happy with you, consider you a kind and caring person, so that,

5. You will feel happy, relieved, at peace, content, good about yourself and like a caring person.

So in other words:

(A) The worry of disappointing others makes you feel happy, relieved, at peace, content, good about yourself and like a caring person.

Is that true for you?

If you look at what the worry really does to you I think you will notice that you likely feel: tense, confused, frustrated, at odds within yourself, indecisive, caught, uncomfortable, evasive, dishonest with yourself about what you really want, dishonest with the other person about what you want, as if youve just sacrificed your integrity, badly about yourself for this, and like an uncaring cold hearted person to name a few.

So is that the sentiment communicated in statement (A) above?

It's the exact opposite isn't it? So which is the truth then about this worry, statement (A) or its opposite?

When you come to the correct conclusion I think you'll feel something significant shift deep within you.

Many who have experienced feelings of relief, self control, lightness, freedom, self confidence, self esteem, joy, a sense of personal honesty and integrity, and a reconnection to their deep Divine Self.
